Staples are inserted along the seam of where the booklet folds. An example is a standard magazine.

A plastic comb is inserted through punched holes along the edge of the booklet.

Double loops of wire that are inserted through a row of punched holes that allows the book to lay flat. Unlike spiral binding it does not have a step up, therefore it is better when setting up cross over images in a spread.

A cylindrical spiral of wire is weaved through a row of punched holes. An example is a notebook.

The edges of sheets of paper are glued to the spine of the cover. An example is a telephone book.
Tape that is applied to the spine of a stack of paper.
