
A single fold brochure consists of one printed page folded in half. After folded, it has four panels - two on the front and two on the back.

A tri-fold brochure consists of one printed page folded inward into thirds. After folded, it has six panels - three on the front and three on the back. Each section is approximately 1/3 the length of the piece.

A double gate fold brochure consists of one printed page where each end of the page is folded towards the center. Then the folded page is folded in half again. After it has been folded, it has eight panels - four on the front and four on the back. Panels 1 and 4 need to be slightly smaller than the outside panels in order to fit inside.

A double parallel brochure consists of one printed page folded in half and then folded in half again in the same direction. After it has been folded, it has eight panels - four on the front and four on the back. Panels 3 and 4 need to be slightly smaller than the outside panels in order to fit inside.

An accordion brochure consists of one printed page that has two or more parallel folds that result in the sheet opening like a fan. There is no set number of panels in an accordion fold. The diagram below represents an accordion fold with six panels - three on the front and three on the back.

A right angle brochure consists of one printed page folded and then folded again in the opposite direction. Each fold is at a right angle to the fold before it. The diagram below shows a right angle fold that has eight panels. Four on the front and four on the back.
